Studies show that falls are the leading cause of death due to injury among seniors. Bacharach Institute will celebrate Physical Therapy Month by holding its first annual Fall Prevention Fair Thursday October 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main campus in Pomona.
There will be a wide range of screens available to assess your risk of falling including balance screening, “Get Up and Go” physical screen, hearing screenings (video otoscopy and VNG eye movement test), blood pressure screening, medication review, vision screening, and home safety modification tips. These risk assessments will be performed by physical therapists, occupational therapists, doctors of audiology and nurses. This interdisciplinary team will help identify potential problems but also suggest strategies and possible treatments to reduce risk and promote safety.
In addition to the many screens, there will be a Tai Chi demonstration, refreshments and a raffle prize.
Free valet parking is available for the fair.
Admission is free, but you must call to register, 609-748-5460.
