The Whitebrier hosts the 2nd annual Christmas in July event with Long Miles
To benefit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children
AVALON, NJ, July 18, 2012 – On Thursday, July 26, 2012, The Whitebrier will host the 2nd annual Christmas in July event to benefit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children with Philadelphia-based jam band, Long Miles returning with live music.
The event will take place from 4 PM to 8 PM. The evening includes drink specials and a silent auction donated by local businesses in Avalon and Stone Harbor. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to The Home.
The Christmas in July event is in tandem with a week-long Dollars for Diller campaign, where nearly 100 local businesses, shops, and restaurants put marked beach pails and/or donation envelopes out to help raise funds for The Home.
Since 1972, The Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children, located at 126 27th Street in Avalon, NJhas been providing a seashore escape for visually impaired children, with supervision from experienced and certified counselors and administrators. Since many of these children come from families with limited financial means, the vacation experience is provided to them at no charge. The camp operates for eight weeks during the summer months, from mid-June to mid-August, with approximately 20 children (ages 7 to 15) attending weekly. Support of The Home is provided by volunteerism, Tim Kerr Charities, Other Lions Clubs, private donations and foundation grants. The Home is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization under the name “Challenged Children’s Charities Corporation.” For more information about the Helen L. SIXERS ADD APPEARANCE BY 76ERS PLAYER MAURICE HARKLESS

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – JULY 16, 2012 – The Philadelphia 76ers have added an appearance by 76ers player Maurice Harkless to their 13th annual Beach Bash, presented by Kia Motors America (KMA), Proud Partner of the Philadelphia 76ers. The event takes place on Saturday, July 21 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jack’s Place in Avalon, N.J. (3601 Ocean Drive, Avalon, N.J. 08202).
Harkless will be available for autographs and photos throughout the event.
A donation will be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, which serves more than 13,000 children and teens at 12 club locations in Greater Philadelphia. Several of the children who take part in Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia activities also will attend Sixers Beach Bash.
At Beach Bash, fans can take part in a raffle to win a suite for 18 people at a 2012-13 Sixers game, along with an in-game visit from the Sixers Dream Team and Sixers Flight Squad; a tour of the Wells Fargo Center led by 76ers Ambassador of Basketball World B. Free; autographed merchandise; a customized jersey for the winner, and more. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket, and $20 for five tickets.
The 2012-13 Sixers Dream Team will also perform for the first time in public on the outdoor stage. The team was named exclusively on SIXERS.COM on Friday, July 13 following their final auditions event (direct link to the new team here: www.sixers.com/dreamteam).
For the first time, family attractions at Beach Bash will include a Ferris wheel and carousel, as well as several returning bounce rides and competitive carnival games with Sixers-themed prizes. Children can enjoy unlimited access to these games and rides by purchasing the $10 All-Day Kids Package on-site, which includes a Sixers water bottle and bag.
Beach Bash also will feature a 21-and-over bar area inside Jack’s Place for fans with an admission fee of $10.
