Country’s #1 Ranked Team Quinnipiac Headed to Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ – Atlantic City continues to “Do Hockey” on March 22 and 23 when the 2013 ECAC Hockey Men’s Championship makes its return to Boardwalk Hall. This NCAA Division 1 event, presented by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, will crown the 2013 League champion who will receive an automatic bid to continue down the road to the Frozen Four. The top four teams who will be playing in Atlantic City as determined by the outcome of the quarterfinals are Brown, Quinnipiac, Yale, and defending champions Union. According to the most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, Quinnipiac is ranked #1 and Yale #10 in the country.  Union College and Brown University also received votes placing them among the top 20 teams. This year marks the 52nd anniversary of ECAC Hockey and will be the third year that the championship will be held at Boardwalk Hall.


The two-day championship begins on Friday, March 22 and features the following match-ups:


Friday, March 22

Session 1 Semifinals two games:

#1 Quinnipiac vs. #7 Brown at 4 p.m.

#3 Yale vs. #4 Union at 7:30 p.m.


Saturday, March 23

Session 2 two games:

Third-place game at 4 p.m.

Championship game at 7 p.m.

All hockey fans will get to enjoy ECAC hockey’s top teams compete with amazing skills by the talented athletes who are participating in this Championship,” said Jeff Vasser, President of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority. “We hope that the athletes, coaches and fans take advantage of all that we have to offer including our dining, shopping, and golf amenities during their two days in Atlantic City.”


"Each year the men's championship is one of the marquee events in all of college hockey," remarked Steve Hagwell, Commissioner ECAC Hockey. "The League looks forward to writing another chapter in its history showcasing its elite student-athletes and high brand of college hockey to all fans. We look forward to two filled-days of competition in one of the nation's historic venues." 


In addition to four exciting championship games of college hockey, ticket holders to this event will also have the chance to take part in exciting intermission activities and contests. TD Bank will host a “Rapid Fire” intermission contest during the 7 p.m. game on Friday, March 22. One contestant will have the chance to win a $500 TD Bank gift card if they are able to shoot ten pucks into the net from the blue line. In addition, Philadelphia sports station 97.5 The Fanatic will host a “$25,000 Shot on Goal” during the 4 p.m. game on Saturday, March 23. Other social media and on-ice promotions will award winners gift cards to local restaurants.


Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 800-736-1420 or through All-session tickets are priced at $87 for the first two rows on the glass, $52 for the lower level, and $42 for the upper level. Single-Session tickets are priced at $31 for the lower bowl and $26 for the upper bowl. TD Bank Family 4-Packs are $79 and include 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, and 4 soft drinks and must be purchased in advance.


Discount rates are also available for groups of 10 or more. Fans can save $10 per ticket on any seat when booking a group for any session of the Championship.
