Third Annual Event To Take Place on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6

Local Competitors to Appear in PRCA Events

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ— Two hundred and twenty cowboys and cowgirls will soon come together at Boardwalk Hall to compete in the Third Annual Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo. The biggest rodeo on the east coast will be held Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 6 at 1 p.m. and will offer spectators the chance to see the best in the sport go head to head in seven challenging PRCA show events including bareback riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and bull riding. More than $85,000 in prize money will be awarded to winners, setting the stakes high for this event.

Top competitors who will make their way to Atlantic City next week include Kyle Bowers from Brooks, Alberta Canada (Bareback riding) who has won six rodeos already in 2013; Howdy Cloud from Kountze, Texas (Bullriding) who holds one tour finale title; Casey Colletti from Pueblo, Colorado (Bareback riding) who placed 11th in the 2012 world standings; Clint Cooper from Decatur, Texas (Tie-Down Roper) who is son of world champion tie-down roper Roy Cooper; Jacobs Crawley from College Station, Texas (Saddle bronc riding) who placed 12th in last year’s world standings; Steven Dent from Mullen, Nebraska (Bareback riding and Saddle bronc riding) who holds three tour finale titles; Cole Elshere from Faith, South Dakota (Saddle bronc riding) who placed seventh in last year’s world standings; Ryan Gray from Cheney, Washington (Bareback riding) who holds one tour finale title and one RNCFR title; Hunter Herrin from Apache, Oklahoma (Tie-Down roping) who holds one tour finale title;  and Bobby Mote from Culver, Oregon (Bareback riding) who has won four world titles.

Locally there are twenty-eight cowboys and cowgirls that hail from the Garden State who will be taking part in this year’s Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo. A few of these participants include Joe Bell, Sr. from Alloway, NJ (Steer wrestler) who is father to national finalist Joey Bell, Jr. and Butch Dase from Bridgeton, NJ.  Dase, a former steer wrestler now competing in team roping with his son, Travis Dase, is also an equine dentist by profession.

The Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo will offer fun and excitement to people of all ages. In addition to the cowboy competition in the arena, there will also be entertaining setups on the Boardwalk Hall concourse during the event including The PRCA “Hall of Education”, a unique rodeo experience which will allow interaction with rodeo cowboys, rodeo queens, and other personnel to try their hand at roping a dummy and learn about techniques of rodeo cowboys as well as equipment. The display will also feature information on the history of the sport of Professional Rodeo and extensive information on the livestock involved. Western-themed merchandise will also be displayed on the concourse and available for purchase.

The PRCA will also be hosting a Championship Rodeo Camp for children ages 8 and older on Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camp curriculum includes an introduction to Roughstock events such as safety and fundamentals, livestock safety, injury prevention, tips from pros, chute procedures, riding equipment overview, goal setting, and introduction to PRCA.
