ATLANTIC CITY DECLARES CODE BLUE
Due to expected dangerous wind chill temperatures through most of this week, the Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management is declaring a Code Blue from 6PM Thursday, December 12 until 8AM Saturday morning December 14.
Winds and sub-freezing temperatures will be extremely dangerous to the homeless in Atlantic City without adequate shelter this week. “This is not a week to be without shelter” said City Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Foley adding “It can be life threatening and the Atlantic City Rescue Mission is certainly the place to be if anyone from Atlantic City is without a place to go to stay safe if they have no shelter in this brutal cold.”
The Office of Emergency Management suggests those on medication ensure they have an adequate supply as travel may be extremely difficult during the cold weather event. Please check on elderly persons and pets.
All interested are urged to keep updated on this weather via local radio, TV, and newspapers.
The Atlantic City Rescue Mission will receive Atlantic City homeless persons without shelter and both provide warm meals and sleeping accommodations.
The ACPD, when possible, will provide a ride to the shelter if so requested.
