Billy Joel has announced that he will become Madison Square Garden's first-ever "music franchise" in 2014. Starting with his previously announced January 27 concert, The Piano Man will play one show each month at the famed New York City venue "as long as there is demand." The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer made the announcement at a press event on Tuesday at the venue with Garden honchos and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in attendance.
Joel, of course, has had a long history with Madison Square Garden. He's played a total of 46 concerts at the arena, including a record-breaking run of 12 sold-out shows in 2006. The latter milestone earned the singer/songwriter a special banner that is displayed in the rafters of the venue.
Joel has just added a May 9 concert, which falls on his 65th birthday, to the four sold-out shows he's already scheduled in 2014 -- on January 27, February 3, March 21 and April 18. Tickets for the May event will go on sale to the general public this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Citi Card members can buy pre-sale tickets starting Wednesday at 10 a.m.

AVALON, NJ, July 18, 2012 – On Thursday, July 26, 2012, The Whitebrier will host the 2nd annual Christmas in July event to benefit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children with Philadelphia-based jam band, Long Miles returning with live music.
The event will take place from 4 PM to 8 PM. The evening includes drink specials and a silent auction donated by local businesses in Avalon and Stone Harbor. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to The Home.
The Christmas in July event is in tandem with a week-long Dollars for Diller campaign, where nearly 100 local businesses, shops, and restaurants put marked beach pails and/or donation envelopes out to help raise funds for The Home.
Since 1972, The Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children, located at 126 27th Street in Avalon, NJhas been providing a seashore escape for visually impaired children, with supervision from experienced and certified counselors and administrators. Since many of these children come from families with limited financial means, the vacation experience is provided to them at no charge. The camp operates for eight weeks during the summer months, from mid-June to mid-August, with approximately 20 children (ages 7 to 15) attending weekly. Egg Harbor City- An early morning single-vehicle car crash left two men dead, Atlantic
County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, a Chevy Impala driven by Kevin Jepson, 21, of
Lower Bank, was traveling northbound on Philadelphia Avenue just north of Moss Mill
Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it crossed the opposite lane of
travel and then crashed into some trees on the southbound side of the roadway.
The driver, Mr. Jepson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger,
Christopher Keating Jr., 23, of Egg Harbor City, was seriously injured and air lifted to
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for medical treatment, where he
later died this afternoon.
The Egg Harbor City Police Department responded to the crash scene and contacted
the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collisions Unit. Both Agencies are
investigating the crash.

The cause of Whitney Houston's has been revealed. The L.A. coroner's office confirms to ABC News that the superstar singer died last month of accidental drowning.
In addition, cocaine was found in Houston's system, and she was also suffering from atherosclerotic heart disease.
The diva was found underwater in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hilton on February 11, and pronounced dead at the scene. Prescription medication was found in her hotel room, but not in any amounts large enough to cause concern.
Whitney Houston was buried February 19 in Westfield, New Jersey.

Davy Jones of The Monkees has died at the age of 66, ABC News Radio has confirmed. His rep tells ABC News that Jones passed away from a heart attack in Indian Town, Florida.
Born in Manchester, England, Jones began acting as a young boy, appearing on British TV and onstage in London's West End in the role of the Artful Dodger in Oliver! After he appeared with the Oliver! cast on The Ed Sullivan Show, Jones was signed to a contract with Screen Gems. When Screen Gems decided to produce a TV series about a rock and roll band, Jones got an immediate audition, and landed a part after meeting with producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider.
Known as the "Prefab Four," Jones and The Monkees -- Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz -- sold millions of albums thanks to the hit TV series, which ran through 1968. Jones in particular became a teen idol.
After The Monkees disbanded, Jones continued a solo career, but would reunite on and off with his former band mates for a variety of tours and appearances up to the present day. He also continued his acting career, both onstage and on TV -- his appearance on The Brady Bunch was particularly memorable, and he also appeared in The Brady Bunch Movie. In addition to live TV work, Jones also lent his voice to animated series like SpongeBob Squarepants.
Jones, who had worked as a jockey in his youth, came full circle by owning and training race horses later in his career. He also continued to record, with his most recent disc, Just Me, released in 2010.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (February 16, 2012) – After a successful debut in 2011, the Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo will return to Boardwalk Hall for three more fun-filled days of cowboy competition. On Friday, March 30, Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1, in more than 2 ½ hours of non-stop rodeo action, fans will witness all the events of the rodeo scene. Tie-Down Roping- A timed race which calls for a mounted cowboy to chase a calf down the arena and rope and tie the calf
Saddle Bronc Riding- A test to see if a cowboy can stay in the saddle of a wild, unbroken horse for eight seconds
Team Roping- Two riders must ride out and rope a steer in the fastest time.
Barrel Racing- A cowgirl and her horse must complete a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels within the quickest timeframe.
Steer Wrestling- After dropping from their horse, the rider must wrestle a steer to the ground by the horns in an effort to stop the clock.
Bull Riding- A cowboy must ride a bull for eight seconds while holding onto only a rope which is connected to the bull

“I’m here at Bellator to win the Bantamweight Championship,” Dantas said. “I plan to not only win the title, but to keep it for many years to come.”
Makovsky enters the cage riding an impressive eight fight win streak, and will look to keep the momentum going in his first career title defense. “Fun Size” currently trains alongside former Bellator Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at the Philadelphia Fight Factory and plans on using his wrestling prowess to dominate Dantas.
“I want to dominate everyone I compete against, but at the same time, I don’t feel like I have to make any kind of statement,” Makovsky said. “I just want to continue getting better and do the best I can every time I enter the cage. I don’t pay attention to the rankings because I feel like that's going to put extra pressure on me. I just look forward to defending my belt on April 13.”
The night will also see the return of Lyman Good (@thegoodcyborg), who rejoins Bellator after nearly a year away from the cage. Good will battle LeVon Maynard, and has his sights set on regaining the form that made him Bellator’s first Welterweight Champion.
“Nothing makes me feel more alive than getting back into that cage,” Good said. “I’ve got a lot of momentum behind me for this fight, and looking forward to getting back to doing what I love. I’ve put in a ton of preparation for this, and just want to reintroduce the MMA world to what I can bring to the table.”

There is a report that The Claridge Casino Hotel in Atlantic City slot machines and table games have been sealed off by construction walls. There is no explanation yet released by Caesars Entertainment corp. who is the parent company of the Claridge. The 500 room hotel tower remains open at this time.
The Beach Boys, who recently announced they're reuniting this year for a new album and tour to mark their 50th anniversary, have chosen to make their first live appearance together in more than 20 years on the Grammy Awards this Sunday. The legendary group, comprised of Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, will perform alongside Maroon 5 and Grammy-nominated band Foster the People on the telecast, which airs on CBS starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

LARRY WIGHT’S INDOOR DEBUT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED; WILL RUN DARREN FORBES’ 600 MICRO SPRINT AT A.C. INDOOR RACES
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (January 30, 2012)-– When the phrase “brightest and best” is applied to upstate New York dirt track racing circles, Phoenix, N.Y. teenager Larry Wight’s name is at the top of the list.Wight, 19, is the latest of more than 200 drivers to enter Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall Indoor Races.
Nearly thirty 600cc Micro Sprint teams have committed to participate in the race. The 10th edition of the event under the direction of Len Sammons and staff is planned for Friday and Saturday nights Feb. 3-4, 2012. College student Wight will be making his first start indoors aboard a 600cc Micro Sprint owned by Darren Forbes of Baldwinsville, N.Y. The Micro Sprints are one of four classes of car in competition. The lightning-fast TQ (three quarter) Midgets, the aggressively-driven Slingshots and the missile-like Champ Karts are the others.“The car is an older chassis but we have raced it only once,” said owner Forbes. “It’s a good car and I am sure Larry will do well with it,” Forbes concluded.
Wight, a winner of 88 outdoor races in his driving career, is part of the highly regarded Baldwinsille, N.Y. based Gypsum Racing Team, that fields or backs half a dozen upstate New York big-block and small-block Modified teams.
The biggest day so far in Wight’s racing career came on September 5, 2010, when he outran Alan Johnson, the winningest driver of all time in big-block DIRTCar history.
The combined driver rosters among the four competition classes is approaching 210, having eclipsed 200 late last week. Wight and Forbes will have two chances to win in Boardwalk Hall; the 600cc Micro Sprints are the only division that will have feature races on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Vintage TQ midgets have been added to the weekend of events. Cars will be displayed on Friday, Feb. 3 throughout Boardwalk’s Hall spectator concourse.
A warm-up session is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4. Cars will then be displayed and drivers will be available for autographs and photos during the interactive evening Fanfest session prior to the beginning of racing program. Drivers will hand out full-size souvenir pennants to the first five hundred youngsters during Fanfest as well.

WILLIE O’REE AND ART DORRINGTON TO HOST YOUTH HOCKEY CLINIC AT BOARDWALK HALL IN CELEBRATION OF 2012 AHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC
WHAT: A special youth hockey clinic will be presented by prominent NHL alumnus Willie O’Ree and former Eastern Hockey League Atlantic City Seagull Art Dorrington in promotion of this year’s AHL All-Star Classic which will take place on January 29 and 30 at Boardwalk Hall. The clinic participants, comprised of students from the Atlantic City based Art Dorrington Ice Hockey Foundation, will learn hockey techniques as well as skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment which they will be able to practice both on and off the ice. The event is free of charge and will be open to the public.
Prior to the start of the clinic, in recognition and appreciation to Dorrington’s allegiance to the community and hockey career, Boardwalk Hall will rename the building’s ice rink in his honor. The dedication of the “Art Dorrington Ice Rink” at Boardwalk Hall, which includes a proclamation from Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford, will also be part of the day’s festivities. During the past thirteen years, Dorrington has been very active in his not-for-profit organization, The Art Dorrington Ice Hockey Foundation, which was created as a means to assist the underprivileged youth in Atlantic City by teaching them life skills through the game of hockey.

INFORMATION: The two-day event, consisting of the AHL All-Star Skills Competition and the AHL All-Star Game, will be held on Sunday, January 29 and Monday, January 30. In December, Philadelphia Flyers legends Bill Barber and Bob Clarke were announced as honorary captains for this year’s Classic. Both men will stand on the team benches and will be recognized for their careers at the annual AHL Hall of Fame Inductions & Awards Ceremony. Playing captains for the upcoming event include Boyd Kane of the Hershey Bears and Darren Haydar of the Chicago Wolves. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League has announced that Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic will produce
the telecast of the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic, set for later this month at historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
The event, with the AHL All-Star Skills Competition set for Sunday, Jan. 29 (3 p.m. ET) and the 2012 AHL All-Star Game to
follow on Monday, Jan. 30 (7 p.m. ET), will air live in high-definition on Sportsnet in Canada and on a comprehensive

Joe Beninati, a former broadcaster for the AHL’s Maine Mariners and Providence Bruins and now the TV voice of the
